Privacy policy

Worldful (hs-joe.com, the “Site”) establishes the following Privacy Policy to protect your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea. This Policy is originally written in Korean. In the event of any conflict or discrepancy between the Korean original and any translated version, the Korean version shall prevail.

1. Purposes of Processing and Items of Personal Information

The Site collects your email address, selected essay categories and newsletter language, and the timestamp of your consent and the version of the Policy agreed to for the following purposes:

  • Newsletter Delivery: To send emails notifying subscribers when a new essay on their selected categories is published.
  • Subscription Management: To send subscription confirmation emails and welcome emails, and to enable subscribers to change their selected categories and language or to unsubscribe.

To prevent spam, Cloudflare Turnstile processes IP addresses and browser information at the time of subscription.

To understand how its essays are read, the Site processes visit statistics: the address of the page visited, the date and hour of the visit, how the visitor arrived (the domain of the previous site), country, type of device (phone, tablet or desktop) and browser, and how far and how long an essay was read. To count each day’s visitors once, the IP address and browser information are converted into a value used only for that day; the IP address itself is not stored. That value is deleted automatically the next day, so visits on different days cannot be linked to the same person. If your browser’s Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control setting is on, no visit statistics are collected.

The Site does not use cookies. Display settings such as theme and language, whether you liked an essay, and the date of your last visit (to tell whether a visit is a return) are kept only in your browser’s storage on your device; you can delete them at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser. Furthermore, subscriptions are restricted to individuals aged 14 or older; accordingly, the Site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14.

2. Retention Period and Destruction of Personal Information

The Site destroys personal information without delay when the retention periods described below expire.

  • Personal information related to newsletter delivery and subscription management is retained until the user unsubscribes.
  • If a subscription is not confirmed via email, the personal information is retained for 7 days following the request. Once this 7-day period expires, the data is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
  • Visit statistics: the daily value is deleted the following day; the remaining statistics are deleted 400 days after collection.

Personal information not directly processed by the Site is destroyed as follows:

  • Personal information related to spam prevention is processed temporarily by Cloudflare Turnstile and destroyed immediately. The Site does not record or store this information.
  • Records of sent emails are destroyed in accordance with Resend’s personal information retention policy.
  • Personal information retained in Cloudflare’s database backups for disaster recovery purposes is purged after approximately 30 days.

Destroyed personal information is permanently erased in an irrecoverable manner.

3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Site does not provide your personal information to third parties, except where required by law.

The Site entrusts the processing of collected personal information to the following service providers located overseas:

  • Resend, Inc. (resend.com)

    • Country of Transfer: United States
    • Items Transferred: Email address, selected essay topics, and newsletter language
    • Date, Time, and Method of Transfer: Transferred electronically via encrypted communication (HTTPS) at the time of email transmission.
    • Purpose of Use: Email delivery
    • Retention and Use Period: Until the user unsubscribes

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (cloudflare.com

    • Country of Transfer: United States (and countries where Cloudflare’s global data centers are located)
    • Items Transferred: Email address, selected essay topics and newsletter language, the timestamp of your consent and the version of the Policy agreed to; visit statistics; and (temporarily at the time of subscription) IP address and browser information
    • Date, Time, and Method of Transfer: Transferred electronically via encrypted communication (HTTPS) at the time of subscription and subscription management.
    • Purpose of Use: Storage and operation of the subscriber database; visit statistics; and (temporarily at the time of subscription) spam prevention
    • Retention and Use Period: Until subscription cancellation (Refer to Section 2 regarding recovery records); visit statistics: see Section 2

If you do not wish for your personal information to be transferred overseas, you may choose not to subscribe or may unsubscribe; however, in such cases, you will not be able to receive the newsletter.

5. Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Methods of Exercising Them

Data subjects may, at any time, request to access, correct, delete, or suspend the processing of their personal information, or withdraw their consent to the privacy terms.

  • Access and Correction: Via the “Manage categories” link at the bottom of new essay emails and welcome emails
  • Deletion, Suspension of Processing, and Withdrawal of Consent: Via the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of new essay emails and welcome emails
  • Other Requests: By sending an email to the contact address below

A legal representative or an authorized agent may also exercise the same rights by submitting a power of attorney.

6. Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information

  • All transmissions between the Site and the subscription server are conducted via encrypted communication (HTTPS).
  • Authentication tokens embedded in email links are hashed prior to database storage, ensuring that functional links are not exposed even in the event of a database breach.
  • Only the operator of the Site has access to the subscriber database and the email dispatch account.
